In November 2003 Dr. Orr spent a week
on Isle Isabela, the most remote of the inhabited
Galapagos
Islands of Ecuador.
During the week nearly 100
pediatric
Oral & Maxillofacial surgical procedures were successfully performed
On Isabela, surgical handpieces
had to be adapted to run off scuba tanks.
As a result of Hurricane Katrina,
a weeklong trip to the New Orleans suburb of Belle
Chasse, Louisiana was made to donate surgical
services as the
Chief Dental Officer for FEMA's
NV-1 DMAT team in October 2005.
Dr. Orr routinely takes emergency
call in Las Vegas, such as at
University Medical Center's Level I Trauma Unit, where he
has coordinated all OMS trauma call since 1984 and has
treated well over 2,000 major facial injuries.
A lifetime member of the
National Ski Patrol, Dr. Orr is also the medical advisor for
the Lee Canyon Ski Patrol,
has been a member of
UNLV Sports Medicine
since 1980, and enjoys
assisting nationally known veterinarian specialists with
exotic animal patients.
